As part of the Diplomacy, an Empire's renown on the world stage is represented by a set of Badges listed under your Avatar, which are earned based on how its actions and how it treats other Empires.
Every Empire can have up to 3 Badges at the same time, and each Badge has up to 3 levels. Continuing the Badge-earning actions can increase the level of Badges, which provides a larger effect for the Badge owner.
All the Badges are temporary and can expire after a given number of turns. Each level of Badge lasts 31turns. Unlike Grievances badges expire at 1turns. If Badge-earning actions stopped and the time ran out, the Badge will be degraded by one level (a level 1 badge will expire and need to be earned again).
Unlike Attitude modifiers and Ideological Proximity, other Empires' reactions toward a Reputation Badge can be universal and can affect every Empire's Attitude towards you.
6 Reputation Badges are known: Hero, Merchant, Pacifist, Thief, Traitor, and Warrior.
Hero Reputation Badge[]
Hero Badge can allow the Combat Strength of your Units to be increased, based on the level of the Badge. It is also a positive Badge and can improve the Attitude of other Empires.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Traitor badge.
- Requirement: Earned when declaring war on a bearer of the Traitor badge while not waging another war.
- Effect: Provides extra Combat Strength to units.

Traitor Reputation Badge[]
Traitor Badge can allow your opponents earn more War Support when they win a battle against you, based on the level of the Badge. It is also a negative Badge and can deteriorate the Attitude of other Empires.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Hero badge.
- Requirement: Earned when declaring unjustified wars or breaking alliances.
- Every Surprise War declaration or Alliance breaking increase the Badge level by 1.
- Effect: Provides a War Support gain when ransacking.

Pacifist Reputation Badge[]
Pacifist Badge drains the opponents War Support per turn, based on the level of the Badge. It is also a positive Badge and can improve the Attitude of other Empires.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Warrior badge.
- Requirement: Earned when proposing a White Peace in a war where you have more War Support than your opponent (both empires need to have demands on the table).
- Effect: Saps the War Support of Empires who declare war on you
- Level 1 - 1 War Support penalty per turn
- Level 2 - 2 War Support penalty per turn
- Level 3 - 4 War Support penalty per turn (as strong as Occupying a City)
Warrior Reputation Badge[]
Warrior Badge provides War Support to owners of cities occupied by the bearer of this badge, negating part of the ongoing effect from occupation, based on the level of the Badge. The badge effectively punishes overly aggressive empires.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Pacifist badge.
- Requirement: Earned when declaring an additional justified war while already waging another justified war.
- Effect: Increases the War Support of Empires when the bearer of the badge occupies their cities.
- Level 1 - +1 per turn per occupied City for its owner
- Level 2 - +2 per turn per occupied City for its owner
- Level 3 - +3 per turn per occupied City for its owner
Merchant Reputation Badge[]
Merchant Badge can allow Trade Nodes along your Trade Routes provide vision within a radius, which increases with the level of the Badge. It is also a positive Badge and can improve the Attitude of other Empires. Contrary to the in-game description this badge does not provide vision of trade nodes but only of purchased resources. The vision can be blocked by forests and elevation.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Thief badge.
- Requirement: Earned when setting up a trade route moving through a third-party Empire.
- Every 5 Resource purchases increase the Badge level by 1.
- Effect: Provides increased vision on trade nodes.
Thief Reputation Badge[]
Thief Badge will increase the yield from ransacking for a number of turns, defined by the level of the Badge. It is also a negative Badge and can deteriorate the Attitude of other Empires.
Earning this badge will cancel one level of Merchant badge.
- Requirement: Earned when ransacking a Major Empire’s Trade link while not at war with them.
- Effect: Provides better ransacking yields.
